Lisa Land Cooper has worn many hats during her
professional life, first working as a paralegal and legal researcher for over
20 years, and then embarking on a career as an educator. Since leaving the
classroom, she has authored two books, written university-level courses, and become a featured weekly columnist for the “Douglas County Sentinel”, her
home county’s newspaper.
Lisa researches all areas of American History, but
over the last seven years has focused entirely on Douglas County and old
Campbell County history for her writing and books. Her weekly column in the “Douglas
County Sentinel” has appeared each Sunday since March, 2012 and has been
recognized by the Georgia Press Association for the last two years in their Better Newspaper Contest.
Currently, Lisa is in the midst of drafting a new book
regarding Georgia history focusing on little known stories from around the state. She is also working on a project
regarding the resort era days of Lithia Springs when the Sweetwater
Park Hotel, the Piedmont Chautauqua, and the Bowden Springs Water Company were
all viable concerns in the area. Lisa
also hopes to have a book out soon with a few tales from old Campbell County
which today encompasses most of the area designated as the southern end of
Fulton County.
