Lisa Cooper, also known online as ElementaryHistoryTeacher,
has lived in Douglasville for 26 years where she writes primarily about history
and history education for the weblogs, History Is Elementary and Georgia on My Mind. She is also a contributing writer for American Presidents Blog and has
had many of her articles republished at The
Apple, a web community for educators.
Lisa is an avid student of history and shares her passion with readers
by bringing her subject matter to life for young and old alike. She specializes in debunking historical myths
and exploring little known and little taught events in order to connect them to
the larger picture.
Now a full time
writer, Lisa spent sixteen years as a paralegal and nine years in the classroom
brining American History to life for fourth and fifth graders.
Lisa has been researching and writing about Douglas County history since December, 2010 via this column that first appeared at Douglasville Patch. Links to those columns are now a part of this site.
This weblog is phase two of Lisa's journey through the Douglas County story, and you are invited to follow along and participate by commenting to posts.
She welcomes your e-mails, story ideas, complaints and kudos!

I absolutely love this site. My family moved to Bill Arp in 1966. I fondly remember the old town and close knit communities that were all a part os Douglas County. Keep up the great work.
